Meadow In A Can

The result of millions of billions of genetic combinations. Resulting in this particular being. Still asking the same question. Which is - What does all of this mean? My brain cells are trying to impose some sort of order on top of chaos. Attempting to make sense out of nonsense. Finding patterns that will ease the ego. Random chaos is not meaningless, just sporadic.

Abortion Hypocracy

This is my response to an opinion writer in my local paper:

Mr. Turk states a father as well as a mother is financially responsible for any child they have together. He is correct when he says this. It is not hypocritical that abortion is a decision to be made between a woman and her doctor/midwife.
The man’s role as father only starts after a baby is born. A woman is the only one to be in charge of carrying a fetus inside her body for nine months, and the only one who gives birth to a baby. That is the reason why the decision ultimately rests with the woman. Only she can decide if she is mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially prepared to carry a baby. No one should be allowed to force her to do so if she is not.
Open and honest communication between two people before sexual relations begin is the easiest and least stressful way to avoid having to decide what to do with any unexpected pregnancies.
Roe vs. Wade was never about whether or not the termination of an unwanted pregnancy is killing babies. Roe vs. Wade was about the fact that you have a right to privacy of your medical records. The government is not allowed to violate that privacy by demanding access to those records.
It is no one’s business what I do with my body. It is a private matter between myself, and my doctor/midwife. IF I choose to share that information with my spouse, then it is their business as well.
For those who wish for the decline of this particular medical procedure, then there needs to be easy/affordable access to sexual education, healthcare, and birth control. Pharmacists should not be allowed to prevent women from having access to birth control. If they are so opposed to birth control, perhaps they ought to find another career. Pharmacists are not there to hand out moral judgment, they are there to provide a service. I don’t see pharmacists denying customers Viagra, so why the hypocrisy?
Having a baby is supposed to be something you do because you want to, not because you have to. Becoming a parent is supposed to be a joy, not a chore or a burden. If a woman is forced to have a child she is financially unprepared for, chances are she may be forced into the welfare system. She may not be mentally, physically, or emotionally prepared, which is vital for any parent. As a result, she may end up resenting the child, and become abusive.
For those who are unable to conceive, who may feel that abortion denies them the opportunity to become a parent, there are plenty of children already in the world who desperately need a home, and want to have people who would love, care, and nurture them. To those people I say, adoption or foster parenting is a beautiful gift to give children who need homes.
